HISTORIQUE D'EVIAN

       --  Avec l'octroi des franchises et la construction d'un château dés le XIII^eme siecle, Evian est, dés le Moyen-Age, un bourg économique prospère, port de commerce du lac et lieu de séjour apprecie des Princes de Savoie.

       --  C'est dans la deuxieme partie du XVIII^eme siècle que débute" la belle histoire d'eaux ", avec la découverte de l'eau minérale naturelle d'Evian en 1790.

      --   En 1826 est fondée la premiere société d'exploitation des eaux minérales et l'établissement thermal.

      --   L'essor de la ville d'eaux ne cessera de s'affirmer avec la création successive du théatre (1833/1835), de l'établissement thermal de "Brunarius" (1900/1902), de la Buvette Cachat en 1903, de l'Hôtel Royal (1906/1908), du funiculaire (1907/1913), du Casino (1911/1912).

              EVIAN HISTORY

      --   With the granting of franchises and the building of a castle as early as the 13th century, Evian was, as far back as the Middle Ages, a prosperous economic centre, a commercial port on the lake and a favorite retreat for the Princes of Savoie.

      --    In the second half of the 18th century, water began to impact even more directly on the city's fortune, with the discovery of Evian natural mineral water in 1790.

       --   1826 saw the founding of the first mineral water operating company and the thermal spa.

       --   The inexorable expansion of this " water town " was further confirmed with  the opening of theTheatre (1883/1885), the" Brunarius " thermal spa (1900/1902), the "Cachat" pump room in 1903, the Hotel Royal (1906/1908), the funicular railway (1907/1913), and the Casino (1911 /1912).
